In 1603, the Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu founded the Tokugawa Shogunate, making Edo its capital. A mere four hundred years has since passed! Now ex-Edo, Tokyo is the home to nearly 12 million people, evolving and growing day by day. This museum deals with the city’s history. It was established in 1993 to preserve the cultural assets and the historical evidence of Edo and Tokyo, to look at and study the history of the Capital, and the cities special features.
